TEAM ROCKET'S FINAL SHOWDOWN Final

By Arthur

Team Rocket's Final Showdown…

“I'm going to cut you a break kid,” said Giovani, “I'll only use three Pokemon.” “Team Rocket's going down!” replied Brock.

“First up, Nidoqueen!” shouted Giovani. “Graveler, let's go!” responded Brock. “Nidoqueen, Double Kick it now!”

commanded Giovani. Suddenly, Nidoqueen lunged feet-first at Graveler and kicked it. Since rock is strong against normal

attacks, the attack wasn't very effective. “Graveler, Rock Throw now!” shouted Brock. Just as Graveler was going to hit

Nidoqueen, Giovani ordered “Nidoqueen, Tail Whip!” Nidoqueen's tail made contact with Graveler and sent it sprawling to the

other side of the arena. Graveler jumped to its feet and Tackled Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen's head hit the ground, hard. But it got

up and Stomped Graveler. Once again, Graveler went flying. But just then, Graveler started to glow. “What's happening?”

wondered Ash. “It's evolving!” realized Christine. Golem got up and suddenly jumped into the air. Nidoqueen was too

surprised by Golem's evolution to move fast enough to avoid the attack. It was Nidoqueen's turn to be sent flying. Next,

Nidoqueen tried to Bite Golem. Unfortunately, the casual observer can see the problem with trying to bite rock. When

Nidoqueen recoiled from the pain of biting rock, Golem Tackled Nidoqueen and knocked it unconscious. “Nidoqueen, return!”

demanded Giovani. “Next up, Nidoking!” For those who don't know, Nidoking is like a Nidoqueen, only it has a huge horn

coming out of its head. “Nidoking, Horn Drill now!” commanded Giovani. Nidoking's horn flashed as it headed straight for

Golem. This time, Golem was not so lucky with its skin. The horn smashed into Golem and knocked him out. “Golem!”

worried Brock. Suddenly, Golem started to glow. “Is it evolving again?” asked Misty. Then, Golem sent out a wave of energy

that hurt Nidoking badly. “Golem used Explosion!” realized Brock. “Golem, return. Next, I choose…Omastar, go!” shouted

Brock. Omastar came out with a loud scream. “Omastar, Hydro Pump now!” Omastar proceeded to shoot a strong burst of

water out of its mouth. Nidoking screamed in pain, for it is well known that ground-type Pokemon are weak against water.

“Nidoking, Pound!” ordered Giovani. Nidoking jumped into the air, and tried to land on Omastar. Unfortunately for Nidoking,

Hydro Pump is a very strong attack, and knocked Nidoking out of thin air. Nidoking landed on his head, and promptly

proceeded to pass out. “Grrr…Nidoking return!” growled Giovani. “Are you giving up?” taunted Brock. “That's it kid, you're

going down!” screamed Giovani. “Machamp, attack!” shouted Giovani as he sent the four-armed Machamp into battle.

“Omastar, Tackle it!” shouted Brock. However, just before Omastar hit Machamp, Machamp picked up Omastar and hurled it

back to the other side of the arena. “Omastar, return!” called Brock. “Onix, it's time to beat Team Rocket once and for all!”

said Brock. Not even waiting to be told to attack, Onix's coal-black tail smashed into Machamp. Machamp staggered, but did

not fall. “Machamp, Seismic Toss now!” boomed Giovani. Machamp grabbed Onix's tail and flung him to the ground. Onix got

up and charged at Machamp. Before Onix hit, Machamp grabbed Onix in a counter hold. The attack severely weakened Onix,

but Machamp was looking weak too. With one last attack, Onix smashed Machamp with its tail. Machamp went flying into

Giovani, and they both went flying out through the ceiling. “Looks like Giovani is blasting off again!” shouted Giovani before he

was out of sight. “Onix return.” Said Brock, calling back his Pokemon. “Don't move!” said an agent. He was standing with a

fist poised over the self-destruct button for the base. “Don't do it!” shouted Brock. “You'll blow us all to kingdom come!”

“That's the idea…” said the agent just before hitting the button.

The escape…

“One minute to self-destruct.” Announced the computer. “There will be no further warnings.” The group knew when to run, and

did they ever. After turning the umpteenth corner, the group saw some light from the exit. But the agents and their Pokemon

were gaining on them. “You keep going,” called Brock; “I'll hold them off.” “Brock!!!” screamed Christine, but she was pulled

along by Ash and Misty. As the group made it out, they looked back inside for any sign of Brock. Next thing anyone knew, the

base exploded. “Brock…”cried Christine. “Brock, will make it. He always has.” Said Ash, trying to comfort her. As the dust

settled, the group looked at the pile that once was Viridian Gym. Suddenly, a line of rocks began to move. “Onix!” screamed

Misty in surprise. As if it hadn't heard her, Onix continued to dig in the rubble. Then, the group heard something coming from

just under the rocks. “Brock!” called Ash. “We're coming.” Suddenly, Onix grabbed Brock, and pulled him from the stone.

He was barely conscious. “He needs a hospital!” worried Christine.

Epilogue…

“Owww…my head.” Murmured Brock. “Wait!” panicked Brock as he saw Christine rushing in to see him. Christine didn't

listen as she hugged him. Then, without warning, she kissed him. “Good morning, Brock.” She said sweetly. Brock sat up and

shook his head. “Now that was something new.” He said. Ash and Misty just stood at the door, side by side, and smiled.

“What do you mean, new?” asked Christine. “Well...I…it's a long story.” He stammered. “I'm not going anywhere.” Chris

responded, still hugging him. “No, believe him, it's a very long story.” Misty joked. Brock blushed. “Will you go out with me?”

spat out Brock, like he did with every girl. “Of course.” Christine responded. “Another new thing, eh Brock?” teased Ash.

“Why don't you two wait outside?” said Brock. With that, Ash and Misty left. After all…Brock and Christine weren't the only

ones who wanted privacy…
