THE TENTH GYM Part 2

By Arthur

The End of the Match…

“Ash!!!” wailed Misty as she and Brock made their way to aid their fallen friend. When they reached him, he was hardly

breathing. “Somebody call an ambulance!” demanded Brock. “Come on Ash, wake up!” cried Misty. “Don't you dare leave

us! We need you with us Ash!” “I will take you to him.” said Katan. “Do you really wish to see him again?” “If you can help

us get Ash back, we'll do anything!” wailed Misty. “Take us to Ash.” “Very well.” consented Katan. “Now, prepare for the

void…” “The what?!?” inquired Brock. Just then, a large hole of darkness appeared and sucked the trio into it.

The Void…

“Where are we?” said Misty while picking herself up. “Welcome to the void!” boomed Katan, “The home of the tenth gym.”

Where's Ash?” worried Misty. “I'm over here you guys.” said Ash from behind them. “Ash!!!” shouted Misty and Brock in

unison. “Don't you ever scare me like that again Ash Ketchum.” Demanded Misty while hugging him at the same time. Then the

trio turned to face Katan. “Now, how do we get home?” questioned Ash. “To enter and leave at will, you must have a Badge

of Darkness.” explained Katan. “The Badge of Darkness can be won at the tenth gym…also known as the Void Gym.” “If

that's so, then I challenge you for a badge.” challenged Ash. “You imbecile!” mocked Katan. “You can only win a badge from

the gym leader. I only posed as the gym leader so Master could continue on with business.” “Fine then, take me to your leader

(I just had to say that)!” demanded Ash. “Greetings Ash. I've been waiting for you.” spoke a voice from behind them.

“You!!!” screamed Ash.

The Nemesis of dark meets The Soldier of light…

“Gary, I should have known it was you!” said Ash. “That's why I'm better than you.” taunted Gary, “I was always one step

ahead.” “But why, Gary? Why go through all the trouble to bring us here?” demanded Ash. “A long time ago,” Gary began,

“there were millions upon millions of pokemon everywhere. People didn't use them for fighting; they used them to help enforce

peace and prosperity. However, one day a man discovered the impressive offensive qualities of pokemon. Being as greedy as

he was, he used pokemon to overwhelm the people and placed himself as ruler of the world. But one day, the pokemon

attacked the man after he had ordered the execution of several innocent pokemon. The pokemon overwhelmed him with their

combined power and, using all of their power, sent him to a place where he could do no harm. He had only kept one pokemon,

a Lancer. The man spent years with his Lancer by helping his Lancer to absorb enough power to escape. The man even

sacrificed his body to enhance Lancer's power. One day, the Lancer created a pure black stone that was always ice cold. The

man's soul took the stone and entered this world, where he found a new host body…me!” “That's a lot to swallow.”

commented Brock. “Alright Gary, I challenge you to a pokemon battle. But can it wait a day? My pokemon need to rest up.”

requested Ash. “As you wish, the world to your west is an almost perfect replica of the real world. But remember, no matter

how healthy your pokemon are, I will triumph!” laughed Gary.

Before the storm…

“Alright you two, I'm going to bed. I'll see you in the morning.” said Brock. After he went inside his tent, Ash and Misty

resumed their conversation. “Ash, do you really think that you can win?” inquired Misty. “I have to try. After all, I have

nothing to lose.” explained Ash. “What about me?” asked Misty, “What will I do if you lose? Don't you even care?”

At this point, Misty breaks down into tears. Ash sits down next to her and tries to comfort her. “Of course I care.”

soothed Ash. “That's why I'm going to fight Gary. If I don't win, then all will be lost. Brock isn't carrying any pokemon,

and I doubt that Staryu and Starmie will be able to fight Gary.” “Oh Ash,” started Misty, “why do you always have to

care for others before yourself? I can't bear to watch you get hurt. Please promise me…” “Promise you what?” Ash

asked softly. “Promise me that you'll never leave me. That you'll always care.” sobbed Misty. “I promise.” Ash

whispered. Then Misty leaned over to Ash and kissed him as if she would never get to kiss him again. When they

broke, Misty got up and ran back to her tent. Ash just sat there in deep thought about the recent turn of events. He

later fell asleep, still having serious doubts about wanting to fight."

Will Ash triumph over Gary? What fate will befall the trio? And what will happen to Ash and Misty? The answers are

found in my dramatic conclusion of “The Tenth Gym.”
