MIND OVER MATTER Part 1

By Arthur

Aproximately one year has passed between my last fanfic and now. The four adventurers have shared some great

times together, including taking down Team Rocket and defeating Gary once and for all. Recently, Ash captured

another Primeape and is training it. Misty, now a water Pokemon master, has lately added a Cloyster to her Pokemon

arsenal. Brock doesn't have anything new, not that he cares. Christine and Brock have become inseparable just as Ash

and Misty did. Onto the story…

Saffron City's Gym…

“Charizard, finish it!” called Ash. Charizard shot a stream of fire out of its mouth, incinerating its opponent. The Alakazam

passed out. “Return.” Said Sabrina, calling back her Pokemon. She smiled at him as Misty ran over to him and gave him a hug

and a kiss. “Wow!” exclaimed Ash; “I should win more often!” Everyone started to laugh, even Sabrina. She remembered the

first time she had laughed in so many years when Ash's Haunter laughed Sabrina into defeat. She smiled at that thought. Gengar

was doing well. She had trained it well, always thanking it for bringing her humanity back to her. She snapped out of it as she

heard her name being called. She looked up to see Ash standing there, offering his hand. “I said good match.” He repeated.

“Of course.” She stumbled, shaking his hand. “You know Ash…” she started. “What?” asked Ash. “I never did repay you for

helping me revert back to normal.” She said. “That's okay, it was good enough to get my Marsh Badge.” He responded. “Still,

follow me.” She said, beckoning him to follow her. He and the rest of them started following her. “So this is Sabrina's Gym.”

Said Christine in awe; “It looks more like a temple.” “I guess that's Sabrina's style.” Reasoned Brock. Sabrina opened a door.

“The rest of you have to wait here.” She explained. “No way!” said Misty. “Ash doesn't go anywhere I don't go.” Ash looked

a little annoyed. “What're you so worried about?” he asked. “It's not like she's going to beat me up or something.” Misty

backed off when she saw Sabrina giving her a questioning stare. “Fine, fine.” She said, holding her hands up in resignation.

Sabrina better not try anything funny. Misty thought. Ash is MY boyfriend.

The Hidden Truth…

Ash followed Sabrina over to a box she had on the table. “Alright Ash, you have a choice.” Commanded Sabrina. “You can

either walk out of this room and never return, or you can open the box.” Ash looked puzzled. “What you find in the box is for

no one else to know. If you open the box, you must follow its trail to the end. Should you tell anyone else, the trail will end and

your destiny will remain unfulfilled.” Ash looked first to the box, and then at the door, and then at the box again. He started to

move toward the box. “Remember, your actions here today will affect you and everyone who your life touches.” Sabrina

warned. Then she was silent. “I've never turned down an opportunity before, and I'm not about to start now.” Ash declared

and went over to the box. When he opened it, there was a flash of light. When he could see again, he saw a scroll in the box.

He picked it up. “Read it in secret. Tell no one. And above all, be careful. Your path is lined with many roadblocks. It is up

to you and you alone to overcome these obstacles and reach your goal.” Sabrina said. Ash nodded and left. For his sake

and mine, I hope he succeeds. She thought.

Shield Of Lies…

“What did you two do in there?” asked Misty, looking a little miffed at being left outside. “Oh, nothing.” Ash lied. “C'mon, tell

me.” She insisted. “I can't.” he said shrugging off the question. She better have not made a move on Ash, he's mine Misty

thought. “We have to go to Viridian City.” Declared Ash. “Why?” asked Brock. “I can't tell you.” Ash said. “What's with the

misinformation?” inquired Christine. “All I can tell you is that I have to go to Viridian City, whether you're coming or not.” Ash

replied. “Of course we're coming!” cheered Misty. “Together forever.” “Yea, together forever.” Worried Ash quietly.

What was in the box? Why can't Ash tell his friends anything? And where does Sabrina fit into this big plan? Find out

in my next installment.
