Poke'mon: Trainers of the future

Part 4: Friends till the end

The trio had sat down to rest. Umi was finishing a little device she had been working on. Makoto came over to her and

asked, “What have you got there?” “It's a gadget I'm working on,” replied Umi. “It's so we can detect the traps that the Team

Rocket base has set up.” “Brilliant idea, why didn't I think of doing that?” “Almost done...there!” “Hey Flint, come take a look at

this.” Flint came over to the two. “What is it?” “Umi's created a device to detect the traps that Team Rocket set up in their

base.” “No, way!!” “See for yourself.” “That's amazing! How'd you learn how to do things like that?” Umi winked and said “My

uncle.” Umi took out the map. “Okay, we're here, we need to get there. So, let's go.” The three hurried to get to Team Rocket's

base.

Umi took out her little device. “Okay, let's see if this thing really works.” She pushed a button on it and all of a sudden a

screen with a map of the Team Rocket base popped up. There was a trap at every opening. “Shute!” exclaimed Makoto. “Well,

I guess we can get in through the top.” Umi pushed another button on her device and it largened the image. “The top doesn't

seem to have any traps,” she said. “We know what we're going to do now right?” “Right!” replied Makoto and Flint.

The three hurried to the roof. A ball of fire formed in Umi's hand. “Fire Blast!” she yelled as she burned a hole through

the roof. “Ready?!” The two nodded their heads in response. They all jumped through the roof. After landing a group of Team

Rocket members began to attack them. Umi, Flint, and Makoto formed a circle and joined hands. They then concentrated their

power. “Disable!!” they yelled in unison. The Team Rocket members started floating in air. The three let go hands and started

pointing up and down with their fingers. Team Rocket hit the ceiling and then fell back to the floor a countless number of times.

After that was done the three ran through the halls to see if they could find where the Poke'mon were being kept.

Giovanni heard a beeping noise. “There are intruders here. Anne take care of them.” “Yes master.” Anne teleported to

where the trio of kids were. “There are our Poke'mon!” exclaimed Flint. “Psychic!” he used his psychicability to break open the

tanks his and Makoto's Poke'mon were in. His Poke'mon quickly ran over to him. He hugged them all. “I missed you guys!”

Makoto hugged his Poke'mon and returned them back to their poke'balls. Flint called his Poke'mon back too. The trio was

about to leave when all of a sudden the door behind them opens. Anne is revealed. “You're not going anywhere!”

The three turn around. “It's Anne!” they exclaimed. “I'm not afraid!” yelled Umi. “Waterfall!” Anne jumped up and

dodged her attack. “Oh, I see you've been training,” she said. “You haven't been training well enough though. Flamethrower!”

“Huh! Barrier!” A forcefield surrounded the trio. “Psychic!” Anne started to break the barrier. “I don't think I can...hold up much

longer!” “Ha, how weak you are.” Flint pointed at Anne. “Blizzard!” She stopped in place. “It's too cold! No matter, I won't let

that get to me!” Anne was about to yell out an attack, but Flint froze her with an ice beam before she could. “Let's hurry up and

get out of here while there's still time!” urged Flint. They started to run again.

Anne quickly recovered though and was soon on their trail. “Ha! There you are!” Everyone tried to run much faster.

“You can't escape me, Thunderbolt!” The blast blew the trio forward. They all landed on their backs. “Ouch, that hurts ya

know!” yelled Umi. “Come on!” said Flint as he picked her up and started running. “Go on ahead,” said Makoto, “I'll hold back

Anne!” “Are you sure?!” asked Flint. “You can handle her?” “Yes, now go on!!! Psywave!!!!!!” A wave of psychic energy hit

Anne. She froze for a moment, but then kept attacking Makoto. “I told you you're no match for me!” She formed a sword and

ran up towards Makoto. He dodged her attack and kept running.

Flint and Makoto came to a dead end. “Now what do we do?” asked Umi. The only option was to jump out the

window to the side of them. Flint turned around and backed up a little. “Here we go!!!” Umi held on to him tightly as he ran

towards the window and broke through it. They fell to the ground with a big THUDD!!! Umi opened her eyes. “Flint, are you

alright?” she asked softly. There was no reply. “Flint?” She turned him over and lightly slapped his face. “Flint please wake up!

Please!!*blush* You...risked your life to save mine and got hurt.” A tear trickled down her cheek as she took his hand. “Thank

you...” She concentrated her power and gave him most of her energy.

Just then Makoto came out of the window battling Anne. With her last bit of energy Umi surrounded herself and Flint in

a force field. She then fainted. After a moment Flint finally woke up. He saw Makoto fighting Anne and that Umi had fainted.

“Umi!” he exclaimed. “She must've given me her energy. I'm so sorry this had to happen!” Flint stood up angrily. “Anne...you're

going to pay for WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! HYPER BEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He unleashed a huge amount of energy directed at

Anne. It was too quick for Anne to dodge though, and she was engulfed in it. She screamed as she finally fell to the ground in

defeat. “Thanks Flint,” said Makoto. “I owe you one.” “How did I do that?” *I guess....it's because I wanted to save my

friends.* Flint picked up Umi and walked over to Makoto. “We should teleport away from here immediately.” “Is Umi going to

be okay?” “I think so, she just needs some rest.”

They had teleported to Cerulean City. “I'm going to get some shut-eye,” said Makoto. “I need to regain my strength.

That was some battle that Anne put on. I'm glad she's finally gone.” “Yeah me too,” replied Flint. “Well, goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” Flint made sure Makoto was asleep and then went over to Umi. He knelt down beside her. “You were so brave,”

he said, brushing some of Umi's bangs aside with his fingers. “You're very ambitious and you never give up. I don't know what

I'd do without you. Thank you...for everything that you've done for me.” *blush* He gently kisses her cheek and goes back to

his sleeping bag. “Goodnight...Umi.” He slowly falls asleep.

Flint wakes up the next morning to find Umi sitting alone near a lake. He picks up a beautiful flower and walks up to her.

“What's wrong?” he asks. She turns around to face him blushing. “Uh...nothing,” she quickly answers sadly. “I was just thinking.”

“Don't be sad.” Flint hands her the beautiful flower. Umi takes it and asks, “What's this for?” “It's to cheer you up.”

“Thanks......Flint.” She places it upon her head. “How does it look?” “Nice.”

The trio walk into the gym. A girl stands before them. “Welcome to the Cerulean City gym, I'm Aurora. Are you three

my next challengers?” Umi and Flint walk up to her. “We are your next challengers!” they said in Unison. “We'd both like to

battle you at the same time,” said Umi. “You could use four Poke'mon, I could battle two and my partner here could battle the

other two. Is that okay with you?” “Yes.” Aroura called out four of her Poke'mon: “Dewgong, Seeking, Gyarados, Blastoise,

go!!!” Umi called out her two Poke'mon: “Pikachu, Usokky, go!!!” Flint called out his two Poke'mon: Pikachu, Ratatta go!!!”

Umi decided to fight first. “Pikachu, Thunderbolt!!” Pikachu fried Dewgong to a crisp. Aroura called back her

Dewgong. Umi called back her Pikachu and commanded Usokky to attack. “Usokky, leaf cutter!” “Seaking,” commanded

Aurora, “waterfall attack now!!!” Usokky dodged the attack and Seaking dodged Usokky's attack. “Usokky agility!” Usokky

ran around Seaking in circles. “Seaking Bubblebeam!!” “Usokky tackle attack!!” Usokky dodged Seaking's attack and tackled

it to the floor. Seaking fainted and Aroura called it back. “Good job, Umi!” cheered Makoto. Umi gave Flint a thumb-up and

said “Good luck!”

Flint thanked her and commanded his Poke'mon to attack. “Ratatta, Hyper fang!!!” Ratatta tried to take a bite out of

Gyarados but it missed. “Gyarados,” commanded Aurora, “Hyper beam!!!” Gyarados unleashed a big ball of energy. “Ratatta

agility!!” Ratatta quickly dodged the attack and ran swiftly. “Gyarados, slam!” commanded Aurora. Gyarados slammed its large

body over Ratatta. Ratatta cried as it got squished. “Ratatta Hyper fang!!” commanded Flint. Ratatta quickly leapt to its feet and

bit Gyarados. Gyarados ran around crying and screaming in pain. Flint commanded his Ratatta to use Hyper fang again. It did as

told. After getting bit a few more times, Gyarados stopped running around and fainted, admitting to defeat. Aroura called it back.

Aroura walked up to Flint and Umi and shook their hands. “You guys were great!” she said. “You two really deserve

this.” She handed them each a cascade badge. Flint and Umi high-fived each other. “Yeah, we did it!” they yelled in unison.

Makoto came up to them and congratulated them. As the trio left the gym they waved good-bye to Aurora and headed to the

poke'center.
